Busy Evening

I started my crafting today with something totally new - Scrapling!! Never heard of it before but Sarn on the Forum put it up as her Friday Challenge. I really enjoyed this new size and found the perfect little item to include on it which I have had for years. It is a print of a Victorian childs book - the cover and inside pages, so just had to cut it out assemble. I used a piece of ribbon around the whole thing to keep the book closed.
Embellishment - Stamp-It Australia 'Yesteryears'
Card paper and ribbon from my stash

The 2nd card was for Daring Cardmakers - Autumn Purple

I scanned it with the little card outside of the envelope
Patterned Paper - HOTP
Stickers - PSX
Button closure mini envelope - Laura Ashley
Base card - QVC
Pink Card & sentiment rubber stamp from my stash

The final card for today was for 365 Cards Day 223 - In the Shadows. To create a shadow effect.
This was hard as I didn't have what I wanted to create what I had in my mind. So after a couple of failed attempts this is the final offering.
Heron Stamp out of a grap bag
Adirondack 'Ginger' ink
Base card, ribbon and outline stickers from my stash.

Happy October

Another month gone, and autumn is knocking on the door. It has been very cool today albeit with a bit of sunshine to cheer the soul. The leaves are starting to change and it is my favourite time of the year.
But my favourite blog of the year has given me a headache today.
365 Cards Day 215 - 4 Elements
To divide the card into 4 parts representing the 4 elements of water, fire, earth and air.
Phew!!...no pressure then. I thought and thought about this and our Designer Amy put up a beautiful take on this, but I didn't want to do the obvious 4 squares, although I was truly impressed and very tempted.
On choosing how I would do my 4 portions I then had to look for papers...oh! my..earth was simple, I just had to use this great paper from Basic Grey 'Archaic' pad as it reminds me of boulders. Also fire was no big deal because I knew the new Basic Grey 'Indian Summer' had just the fiery sort of paper I needed. So then the rummaging started and I came upon a piece of shiny advertising media that had come through the post that I had squirreled away for just this moment in time. It featured the perfect picture of water. But then I was stumped, I had nothing that would denote air. No cloud stamps, or puffing wind stamps...you know the god with big puffy cheeks blowing, all these were in my mind.
I finally decided upon this tiny anon. stamp of stars so just stamped away with Adirondack 'Denim' until I was happy.
The resulting card once all layered up looked terrible, nothing linked anything together and of course, the colours didn't look well together, ....it needed words, everything needs words, I'm a wordy person...as you can tell. Nothing came to my mind until I thought of printing the actual element words using my Dymo Letra tag. On placing the first 'earth' I knew they had to be in some semblance of order so as not to look all over the show. So stepped them upwards.
Still not finished...it had to be a card I could send to someone, so brought out my trusty PSX Pixie sets and used the two sentiments to finish it off.
Now you know why I have a headache to start October off with. :D
Phew!! this turned out to be a saga, sorry folks, you can wake up at the back now!! I've finished.

Hitting The Books

365 Cards Day 178 - 'Back To School'
I am feeling a lot less sore today after my fall on sunday, and I thank everyone who has left a comment regarding this. You are generous with your concern. xx

So on to the card for today.
This was not relevant to me at all as I have no young children in the family, but not wanting a gap in my week did a card for my Grandson Jake who is 16 and starts College in Sept. He won't want a card and will probably greet it with a blank expression, but that's teenagers for you...Ha!Ha!!!!

I used 7 Gypsies Gaffer tape and Paper Artsy ruler ribbon across a misc. paper from my box , the pattern sort of looks like mobile phones or cellphones I think you call them in the US.
The great stamp is by PSX Santa Rosa and we are all a cat-mad family so might just get a comment from him on that.
I inked it up with Versafine Onyx Black and coloured one of the books with PM Canary to give it a pop of colour.
The wording was cut from a sheet of Kay & Co School Days.
So not bad for an irrelevant challenge.

So Far Today..............

I have made 2 cards.
The first one is for Passion for Promarkers week 11 with a given sketch and we could use any colour.

The image - Winnie Owl from Willow Designs

Copics used : Lime Green, skin white and orange
Stickles used for the bee's wings - 'Icicle'

Unfortunatel the whole thing has been spoilt by the awful green ink used for the Birthday Sentiment...didn't look that bad in real life.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Second card is for Kerrie's Sketch on the forum.
This was a great sketch and quick to do.
Base card - Bazzill
Papers - Basic Grey 'Eva'
Chipboard shape - Basic Grey
What's Your Sign?
365 Cards Day 158
To create a sign on a card.
I really struggled with this one. Had the perfect stamp of a sign by Stamps Away, as usual still in the pack and unused....but Oh! my!! what to do with it....I bought it for scrapbooking you see.
I found this downloaded paper in my file which must be at least 5 years old and waiting for the perfect opportunity to be used....love that scarecrow, reminds me of the Wizard of Oz...one of my all time favourite films.
My little PSX Pixie stamps and Versafine Onyx Black finished the whole thing off.
Not an ideal sort of card but the challenge is fulfilled.
Inspiration
365 Cards Day 156 - Ad Inspired....
Great picture to give the inspiration
I just drew from the general colours and shapes of the items...plus, of course, the beautiful tulips.
I have used lots of bits out of my offcuts folder and the container for the tulips is cut from a sample of wall covering.
The tulip sticker is by Anna Griffin
Buttons are by Hero Arts
Sentiment stamp - PSX using Versafine Black Onyx ink
This was very satisfying as it used up bits and cost only pennies to make.
I dedicate it to 365 Cards for bringing me out of my crafting shell.
Thursday Catch-up!!
Due to me having a minor accident yesterday I didn't get to making any cards at all. :O
On putting my ironing board up I trapped my little finger in the legs...you probably heard the scream over there. I have never felt pain like it and cried like a baby.
So I am now catching up as it is ok just bruised.
365 Cards Day 130 - That Tickles Me!
To make a humourous card that will hopefully raise a smile if not a laugh.
Ingredients:-
Image - download in Pink Petticoat sale
Colouring medium - mix of Copics & PM's
Brown card - Bazzill Bling
Yellow card - Bazzill Basics
Scalloped base card and pearls from my stash.
Circles cut with Nesties and punches
Sentiments - actually found out how to make these in Word with a little trial and error and am pleased as punch. Fonts are by 2 Peas
365 Cards Day 131 - Ad Inspired
Lovely advert that we had to draw inspiration from for our card. This ad. featured Dr. Seuss shower curtains.
When my daughter was born in 1966 my sister gave me the whole set of Dr Seuss books for her and how I loved to read those stories, they lasted through having my 2 boys also, but what ever happened to them I will never know. Such wonderful books.
I drew inspiration from the colours and the fish. Having no stamps I googled images.
Ingredients :-
Images - Googled
Blue & White paper - recycled from the packing off my white card
Red & White paper - Red card with hand punched white dots added
Pale blue card - recycled from Insurance Company folder
Fishes bubbles - same punch to cut circles from irridescent blue paper
Sentiment - PSX stamp
Base card from stash
I think this card says something about the way I feel.
So there you are 2 for the price of 1 today. :-)
Card Recipe
365 Cards Day 128
....is a card recipe...oh! I love these.
Ingredients
1 5x5 card
1 rub-on image
2 buttons
1 pce. patterned paper
1 pce. ribbon (NO bow)
1 sentiment inside the card
I don't buy rub-on pictures, but had this one though for about 4 years and never used as I have never had much success with rub-on pictures especially Royal and Langnickel and binned the lot of them. I kept this because it is PSX but never dared to use it for fear it would end up ruining a card.......but voila! it was successful.
The piece of paper used is by HOTP
Everything else from my stash, the stamp used for the sentiment inside was off eBay and has no make on it.
This took me longer than imagained as I was sat with the one piece of paper in my hand staring at the rub on on the card for sooooooooooo long lol!!...I then came up with the torn window.
Hope this fits the recipe okay.
Seeing A Silhouette...
This is the challenge over at 365 Cards Day 119.
I have been out all day at a wonderful small family gathering so when I got back and saw what the challenge was I thought I'm sure I can just do a quickie for this, as I am exhausted.
So a quick stamped background using one of my Hero Arts Fancy Filaments. A stamped silhouette image by Magenta which I haven't got out for ages, popped onto a piece of blue glitter card.
Then a PSX sentiment finishes the job.
Versafine Onyx Black was used for the stamping.
I daresay I could have coloured the word DREAM, but maybe another time.....I'm off to my bed.
G'night all.xxx
Piece it together............
365 Cards Day 115
Well this is a first for me....Paper Piecing
I have never tried this before due to the arthritis in my thumbs as I find decoupage bad enough....but...I thoroughly enjoyed it and am pleased with the result. So thank you 365 :-)
Ingredients :-
Stamp - Sugar Nellie 'Talking to the Birds'
Colouring medium - ProMarkers
Main floral paper - Kay & Co. 'Sparkly Sweet'
Dark Pink Paper under image - KH Pink Painted Flat paper
Paper pieces - assortment of HOTP dark pinks and Basic Grey pale pinks
Sentiment stamp - PSX
Mulberry Flowers
1/4" punch
Pink base card and ribbon from my stash.
I pieced the jumper out of a piece of herringbone pattern paper, the skirt out of spotty paper and the hands and spots on the skirt out of plain pink paper.
I placed the pieced hands over the stems to make it look more like she's holding a bunch of flowers.
The flower in her hair and on the branch are the same colour as the mulberry flowers in real life but the scan has bleached the colour out.
Whether the weather is late or not is the question.
Daring Cardmakers last friday had this great theme and where has the week gone?
This is a 10 minute quickie with a Penny Black image that was already coloured with Sakura pens by the look of the sparkle.
Papers - Kay & Co Hopscotch/ Basic Grey Urban Prairie
Sentiment stamp - PSX
Thanks for a quick look>>>>>>>>>>>>>>off to post it now lol!!
Shaped Card
This was the theme at Secret Crafters Saturday Challenge #29. And the perfect opportunity to use my big blooms to include the challenge over at Daring Cardmakers
The shaped card was one that our Sarn did for us on the forum and I didn't get round to doing more than fold the card...after a few tries, I might add.
So this was the perfect excuse to get this finished.....and I am pleased that I have.
Ingredients :-
Paper - Kay & Co Amy Butler Belle
Sentiment - one of a set of PSX garden theme stamps...years old
Everything else from my stash
Tools used :-
Spellbinders Nestabilities Label 1
Think Spring..........
The perfect subject for this time of year over at Penny Black Saturday being the challenge 42.
Gets you thinking flowers and freshness and new beginnings. So my last piece of paper with daffodils was just great for a starting point, so I trimmed around a portion of it to use just at the side of the card, which I had first covered with a piece of plainish yellow paper. Found this great Penny Black image among my box of coloured images which is slowly depleting now with all these challenges. It had been watercoloured...decided to cut around it using my Nestabilities curved rectangles and did one bigger to matt it, enclosing ribbon between the two layers for added interest.
To lift the paper I added bling to the hyacinth at the bottom and to the butterfly antennae in the way of sticky backed gemstones. Also dotted along the butterflies wings with Stickles glitter glue. The sentiment was added and the butterflies and tulip were coloured with Sakura pens.
Ingredients :-
Paper - plain yellow...Basic Grey, floral....Kay & Co Tim Coffey I think
Green card...Bazzill Basics
Sentiment...PSX Santa Rosa
Stickles...Diamond
Ink Pad - Versafine Black Onyx
Base card, gems, Penny Black image and ribbon from my stash
Recipe 3...2..1
Great challenge at Penny Black Saturday. Week 39 was the recipe of 3 Brads, 2 Ribbons and 1 Flower....great fun.
Had already got this image coloured in with PM's so just had to choose the colours of papers and the challenge elements to go with it.
The papers were from K & Co. Tim Coffey Young Girl 6 x 6 pad. One sheet I cut along the scalloped patterns to make 2 strips. The image was framed with a piece of scrap after die cutting which I smooshed over with 2 chalk ink pads - Versamagic Persimmon and ColorBox Wisteria. 2 Grosgrain ribbon bits were stapled to one side of the frame and the flower was attached with a velvet brad and 2 blue brads kept it company. I drew some stitches to just lift the flatness of those areas of the card.
The tiny sentiment which I stamped into the label is by PSX.
Transport
This was the title of the challenge over at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge being challenge #21.
Out comes my box of stamped images and I knew I had the perfect one for this. Not sure who it is by. The image was chalked and a clear page pebble was added to the centre of the map. The papers used were from a K & Co Tim Coffey range. The sentiment stamp is from a range by PSX. Pleased I now have another male card for my box.
Follow Your Dreams
This card was my take on the wonderful sketch this week at Mojo Monday - this was Contest Week 76.
The image used was, as usual, from my collection of swapped images that I am determined to plough through. It was coloured with Sakura Gelly Rol pens and mounted behind a lilac mulberry paper frame which I overstamped with Rubber Stampede 'Pressed Sprig' in Impress Dye Ink Pad 'Old Rose'. This was then mounted on a strip of deep rose coloured card by DCWV. Lilac spotted satin ribbon from my stash. The lilac paper used behind this and on top of another piece of DCWV card was Basic Grey 'Lilykate'.
The row of rose pink Crystal gems along the bottom were either side of a sentiment by PSX.
The colours have been bleached by the scan which is a shame as they look quite nice in real life and match perfectly.
Signs of Spring
This was the theme of Cute Card Thursdays Challenge #48
And now I've done it I realise it's not cute, but hey ho! cute is in the eye of the beholder.
The Lily stamp is by Bravura Stamps and I inked it with Versafine vintage sepia and stamped it onto one of my Nestabilities Labels 2. the stamens were topped with cream flat-backed pearls. This was mounted onto a Nestabilities large scalloped circle in chocolate card. The paper used was from a Basic Grey Lilykate pad, the cream jacquard ribbon was from my stash. For the sentiment I cut in two to fit, an image from a PSX stamp. All elements were swooshed over with brown chalk from a Decorators palate.
I am pleased with the colours of this, quite restful
Weekends Witterings
Well, These are the cards I made yesterday.
The first is just a play with old stash, as I hate to throw anything away, even freebie papers in mags., and using my newish Nestabilities which I adore, really need the round ones now. The teasel stamp is by Stamps Away c1049
The 2nd card was using the new Laura Ashley paper that our forum 'Fairy Godmother' sent me. They are all stunning, I have yet to use any of the matching fabric covered brads. The ribbon is by DCWV 'Old World'. I scalloped the edge of the green card with Fiskars 'cloud' edgers and labouriously punched the holes with a Fiskars hole punch. Sentiment from a selection of swaps off the craft forum.
The 3rd card is using some gorgeous Basic Grey papers I have had stashed away for ages. The wasp/bee sticker is by Anna Griffin and the little word stamp is from a set by PSX
