Ice Cream.......

The great theme over at Basic Grey Challenge 35 is Ice Cream and more importantly what your own favourite is.
Well as you can see by the card my all time favourite is chocolate...oh! yum!!! especially Green & Black Organic...I could eat a whole tub in a sitting. lol!!
These Basic Grey papers, being from the Sultry and Boxer 6x6 pads were ideal and did the job for me. But seeing as the weather is so miserable at the moment I am still having my chocolate hot and not iced, so this great image which was sent to me by my forum buddy Sarn says it all. The fabulous sentiment which speaks volumes was from my box of stamped swaps so am unsure of the sender or the make.
Wonderful chocolate drops in the form of Card Candy and a chocolate brown grosgrain ribbon tied it all together....off to make myself a cup now........>>>>>

All Round

Over at Basic Grey Challenge 26 the idea was to make a card with no angles or corners, hence the 'All Round' theme.
Really struggled with this one, not because of the rounding but because of the lack of mojo. But I came up with a card which I will be using for a friends anniversary soon.
The papers and chipboard alphas were both Basic Grey 'Two Scoops'
Sentiment stamp, ribbon and flat-backed pearls from my stash. The flowers are Prima hydrangeas. The papers were edged with my Fiskars wide scallop scissors. The card was embossed alonng the bottom edge with my Cuttlebug embossing borders 'Frills'.

Smile

As it is not a competition week over at Basic Grey Challenge #25 I have combined this with Arty Girls weekly Challenge #76 which is 'Smile'. Arty Girls guest designer this week is Anna Koziarek.
I have really stepped outside my comfort zone with this as I ache to do artsy cards but have never had the courage although I have collected so many arty stamps. So as this is my first attempt you wonderful arty girls out there please be gentle with me and realise I haven't stepped that far out of my box. lol!!
The Basic Grey elements I have used are papers from the 'Two Scoops' range. Also a small piece of brown BG which was just the thing in my scraps. The stamps used were 'Live Life!' by Paperbag Studios and 'Smile....' by Clarity/Imagina. The ink used to stamp with was Versafine Antique Sepia and to swoosh around the papers was Tim Holtz Distress Ink 'Brushed Corduroy'. The metal corners are Scrapbook Basics. The round was cut out using largest Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Circle, and the pink paper was scalloped using Fiskars Wide Scallop scissors. The lace, buttons and ribbon were from my stash.
I shed a tear doing this card, as I always do when I use buttons, because out comes 'The Button Tin' which I inherited from my dear mum who only passed away 2 years ago at the age of 95 and whenever I hear the buttons swishing about in the tin I am whisked back to my childhood when the best thing to play with were Mum's buttons. How some children miss out today.

Colour Combo

Found a wonderful Challenge Blog which is going to really whet my appetite as Basic Grey papers are a passion of mine....so along I went to Basic Grey Challenge and found this weeks' challenge was "Colour Combo" sponsored by The Cutting Cafe. The choice was out of Pink & Green, Pink & Brown or Blue & Brown. I chose the latter as I do love those colours together. I chose a favourite Penny Black stamp and created my little effort above. The Basic Grey papers I used were from the following 6 x 6 pads , brown from 'Sultry', brown floral from 'Boxer' and blue from 'Cupcake'. The butterfly image which is in a tan brown - not orange as it looks here :-( - was out of my stash of stamped images which I have collected over the years, I just altered it by touching up the white parts with a pale blue Pro-Marker by Letraset. Ribbon and jewels from my stash. I really enjoy working with limited colours as given free rein I am unable to make a choice. Please forgive the awful photography, didn't want to scan the card as the butterfly would squash, and photos aren't my forte.
